Arcade Fire are spot on

leave a comment »

It’s all here.

Oh the irony, in a publication that has done more to destroy common sense and values than any other mainstream publication.

When I was young, I recall my fab Canadian uncle always making jokes. I don’t recall how I reacted, but I do remember it made him fun to be around.

Humour is very hard to define. One can laugh or cringe at other’s misfortune, that is most of what reality TV/celebs judging people is about today (the opposite of the laid back Live At The Apollo) , but back in the day, humour was mainly based on knowledge and pure whit. After all, if you had a grasp of English, the Two Ronnies played with our language and culture. Morecambe & Wise (gently) extracted the wee wee out of guests, including the priceless time they had Andre ‘Preview’ on. Never forget my Dad in hysterics seeing a respectable musician humiliated but taking it all in and giving it back, like a man.

When I try to banter with anyone young today, it fails. I do recall I was the same when young, after all, I had other things on my mind, but they take offence even when you make a joke that not long ago would be harmless.

Electric car crash

leave a comment »

No, not a commentary on recent accidents involving EVs and AI powered cars, both of which are far far rarer than those involving ICE and human driven vehicles, but more the chaotic situation regarding electric car charging stations in the UK.

We know that the oil industry would like to own our future energy too, and being they own the service stations, total chaos until they get their mits on EV juice is to their advantage because Mr & Mrs Sensible won’t touch an EV until it does 300 miles or they can pop into ANY town centre, restaurant or service station and top up on the way to see the Grandkids or go on day trip somewhere nice.

(I’ll explain why I’m writing this soon, or via a video blog, because am researching EV charging points using an app called Chargemap, and it’s not only buggy and fiddly to navigate, but they want 20 Euros for their membership card! Can you imagine having to pay for the privilege of filling your car up with petrol – not just paying FOR the petrol, but to fill up? I really hope this is not the future, because if it is, it’s going to be a disastrous mess of confusion and unhappy customers.)

As per earlier post, once again CCTV succeeds as voyeuristic entertainment only.

Once again, cctv saves the day. Not.

(I used to Tweet each time there was an example of how a surveillance state that extracts family structure and diciplin from the equation leads to an increase in crime.)

Say NO to US/UK trade agreement

leave a comment »

We are headed towards a cross roads that will affect whether the UK’s children and their children (assuming the parents live long enough) continue to grow obese and cancerous or we return to/adopt the Scandinavian and Mediterranean lifestyle based on natural unprocessed low to no sugar diet and lifestyle.

When I lived in the US, I learned all about how the corn industry shoe horns corn syrup based products into the average American household. Hence every single breakfast cereal and snack over there and now over here contains what is essentially sugar – not to mention all the hormones and other crap injected into their meat.

As per diesel particulates, our bodies are not made to ingest all this, that’s a scientific fact.

Alas big business of the old school type (IE, not Apple, Tesla, Iceland etc) cares little for ethics or your wellbeing, they just want to try to eternally increase the valuation of their stock – a concept that is impossible according to maths and the laws of physics, even if it does work within specific economic concepts that themselves were created to benefit specific individuals, but not humanity as a whole.

So, whilst our youth protest at the lack of gender neutral toilets and other sham issues inserted into the narrative, the rest of you who oppose this corporate meddling (yes, there IS a connection!) know what to do: Vote with your wallets, because our current politicians are only in it for the money, so will never put your interests first despite all the chit chat at the podium.

Fight back club: When you visit the supermarket (if you have to), only buy products FREE of sugar, and don’t buy any chicken if you suspect it has been meddled with. Alternatively, buy from a genuine farmer’s market, ensuring it is not a sham one selling branded products made to look like they are locally produced.

Restaurants warn chancellor over ‘damaging closures’ – BBC News

I wonder why! See last post. The councils, who are run by visionless greedy jobsworths have sold out to private parking companies (who make a killing from complex to operate parking ticket machines) that now own pretty much every sq foot of land across this sorry nation.

So people can no longer go out to shop, socialise or eat and relax. They have to clock watch or may as well eat at home.

Retailers, who I do business with, have been protesting about this for years, along with sky high rates, and no one listens.

Dead town centers and job losses will follow. Well done councillor! You could have quit and done everyone a favour.

Minority Report

leave a comment »

As mentioned in a previous post regarding downsizing (people, food portions/containers), there is an interesting parallel between the plots of some films and goings in in the real world, sometimes immediately, others a decade or so later.

Read this and see where we’re headed. In particular this:

“The orders would allow courts to electronically monitor suspects’ whereabouts before they have been found guilty of – or even committed – a crime.”

You’re all culpable

leave a comment »

I’ve reactivated my blog to post this.

The photos here make me want to vomit. Outside No.10.

If you want to know why this is happening, but anyone who challenges these people on a YouTube channel or protests in some other manner is shut down or arrested, it’s all about oil, as you ALL know.

Speaking as someone who has walked the talk (got solar panels and a wind turbine, and an EV arrives soon), if you want to stop this duplicitous behaviour, ‘vote’ with your wallet and get off grid. If you put petrol in our car or buy anything plastic, you’re feeding the world’s most powerful and morally bankrupt machine.

I do not know why we are slaughtering people in Yemen, but knowledge of geopolitics is limited to specific goings on, but it and the whole situation with Russia has a lot to do with a mix of energy needs and a war on Christianity, and Russia is very keen on preserving the latter as well as keeping warm.

I’m ashamed to be English, and only remain in this country to be close to family.

Fight back club: As above.

Solutions!

leave a comment »

This blog rarely discusses a subject without offering solutions.

Apparently, after only a few days of cold weather, the UK is running out of gas. The blame for this lies entirely with the energy industry for not investing in sustainable clean energy such as solar, wind and hydroelectric, and associated (battery) storage technology, something that small companies and Universities lack the money to fund alone.

I try to avoud discussing my work/business on this blog because doing so is a breach of impartiality, however my company is working to offer solutions to all this via a service we began development on a while back called LifeMachine that on completion will help people choose appropriate energy generation and storage equipment for their specific home or other location.

Further, home builders need to start to integrate energy generation into houses such that the cost can be absorbed by the mortgage.

More on this in due course over the coming years. All very exciting!

*** RED ALERT *** OH DEAR

leave a comment »

Had to break the rules and dig out some pics from the 1980s to show how we coped when it snowed then.

The first pic I took from my 2 wheel drive car on the A34, the second, probably on the same day, of my car after I pulled over to take a pic of the snow drifts.

My car near snow drifts on same day

I was taught that to drive in slippery conditions you use as high a gear as possible in order to prevent the wheels from spinning. If the bloody government actually TAUGHT people how to drive instead of telling people to ‘stay indoors’ and if everyone drove at the same speed (say 50mph) there would be no loss of momentum so vehicles would not lose traction and crash.Screen Shot 2018-03-01 at 09.43.16

Note that the snow in the screenshot of BBC News website home page today is not as as deep as my pics above
