Back in the mid naughties, Australia and Australians were a bastion of all that is best in a people. (I know, I hired and befriended some.) A mix of the quick wit and social nature of us Brits + the industrious work ethic and love of outdoors activities of Californians. Upside of this is a people who were not only hard working, but interested in matters environmental. After all, look after Earth, and it looks after you!
Not sure what happened, but between then and a few years ago, something went wrong and the country has become obsessed with dirty energy and characterless sprawling trashy outdoor strip mall ‘neighbourhoods’ like those that cover America. (Drop a pin on a random location in the USA on Google maps and drag the yellow pegman onto a road to Streetview what I mean!)
Like most occasions when one makes a mistake, Australia has just been run over by their own karma, again.
“Don’t worry Sir, you’re safe up here. It’s only the little people who will perish.”
You may say this is only to be expected, low laying flat lands covered in water due to a periodical cyclone. Actually, not so. If you read to the end of the article, you get to the worrying part: Their food producing farmland has been devastated. Yes, for all we know, when the waters subside, it will leave behind nutritious soil (after all, that is why there are fertile lands besides rivers in the first place), but it is probably too early to tell.
The core issue – and why refusal to deal with climate change quickly should be humanity’s number one priority – is that we should not experiment with our planet’s eco system. Dabble in the lab and use supercomputers, but not outside.
I have repeatedly stated in this blog and on comments on other publications that the second the price of food rises to more than the income of more than a certain threshold of a populated area, we will have civil unrest. Food shortages caused by climate change will cause that. Have you ever been to the supermarket on a Sunday afternoon or just before the Christmas holidays? The shelves are empty because stock is cleared ready for replenishing with fresh produce the following shopping week.
It is annoying and makes you think just how reliant on the convenient availability of basics we are as a species.
The problem in the West is that we are so good at saving ourselves that few of us die when a major natural disaster strikes, unlike say in Pakistan where earthquakes and such lead to a far higher toll due to poor infrastructure design.
On the other hand, we get away with it because it didn’t hurt enough. If more Westerners were harmed directly by our self caused ‘natural’ disasters, we would do something about it quicker. For example, if a loving family member of an Australian (or other) politician was killed or injured by an event that may well have been caused by human induced climate change, being it is now ‘personal’, would they stop being pro coal and invest the nation’s billions in solar and other clean energy instead?
Fight back club: Don’t experiment with our only planet for short term capitalist or geopolitical gain.
So why not leave it there so we can move on from the age of plastics, pollution and climate change?
Although like many, I have an intense dislike of those US corporations who over the last few decades have persuaded American housewives to swap a fresh apple for a Pop-tart in their children’s school lunchbox, their broadcast media, whilst tacky and featuring atrocious graphic design, is at least ethical.
Right after 9/11, all US TV networks stoped broadcasting commercials during news stories about the attacks for several months. Not so here in the UK, in fact, it got worse. Channel 4 – the bastion of so called left wing ‘progressive*’ television – saturated the airwaves with dramadocs about 9/11, (I remember clearly there were about two or three every single week), and bombarded the programmes with commercials. Worse, they did what American TV shows do during normal times: As the show progresses, the gaps between each commercial break gets smaller, so right during the last few minutes of the program you get about three commercial breaks, or there are a lot of commercials in each break. Either way, it’s a nuisance and way OTT.
Well, here in the UK we have sunk that low again. I just clicked on a video report on today’s atrocity in Westminster on the Daily Telegraph website. Guess what? A 30 second commercial started to play first! I immediately closed the page, not wanting to profit either the advertiser or the newspaper. Other online papers do the very same thing, including the liberal ones. I just do not know how they can justify this.
Fight back club: Refuse to consume content that profits from carnage.
*= Encouraging people to behave in a manner that is not natural or good for them in the long term.
On Quora they asked what you would do if you were ‘Emperor of the world’ for a day. I replied: Make it mandatory for solar panels to be fitted (where practical) to every free rooftop, world-wide.
But in reality, if I had more than a day, I would (as per a separate Manifesto page I have been working on most of my life), ensure there was clear separation of state owned and commercial endeavours, with national infrastructure managed by the state employed morally upstanding people, and non essential ventures, such as the manufacturer of smart phones, vacuum cleaners and other things we like but don’t need left to the free market.
This is why. The second I learned a few years ago that Thames Water had been acquired by the Chinese and other distant emotionally detached entities, I knew something like this would happen. The public and environment are both being treated with contempt.
Fight back club: Unsure, but probably go back to how it was when water was collected locally and sewage ran into a septic tank under your garden, where nature (bacteria!) dealt with it.
We know you own the connection so are free to do as you wish with it, but in the interests of convenience, privacy and security, can you please stop requiring people to ‘signup’ for access. IE, request name, email and sometimes a phone number. You know full well people will use fake information, and if you demand legitimate data, you are going to lose some customers.
We don’t expect to give up our privacy when travelling on business or pleasure.
For example, McDonald’s use O2 and demand the customer’s mobile number. This is creepy and should be deterred.
How about businesses simply give out a WiFi password that is changed every so often to stop people nearby misusing the signal, like they used to do?
Fight back club: If you have a mobile signal, tether you device (laptop etc) to your phone or boycott the establishment.
A few posts ago, I used a similar term in a quote from Mr T.
And as per my previous post, incredibly selfish SJWs (where does the term ‘justice’ come from exactly?) are clamouring to terminate babies for any reason.
Having watched ladies who hold the very opposite view struggle to have one or more children and then devote love and attention to their upbringing and education, it becomes clear that to have a child and take care of it is one of life’s greatest goals, gifts and responsibilities. But to make love and create that child should not be looked upon with the same attitude as watching TV or playing a video game.
- There’s sex for fun (why not?)
- There’s messing around irresponsibly
- There’s sex for having a baby
- There’s rape
If 1 & 2, you protect against accidents. If 3, you can’t change your mind months later. Here’s why: If you adhere to decent family values, your family will help you bring up the child, so even if you cannot cope, you will manage. You are very lucky to have created life, so take care of it.
If 4, there’s the law, and common sense. The situation is totally different.
Fight back club: Time for protests to have this Savage woman fired.
I’m prepping a post entitled “The End Of Humanity” about the collapse of ethics and a race towards a cold compassionless selfish dystopian future influenced by a mix of toxic feminist ‘values’ and biotechnology. Ahead of my post, this woman has called for gender based abortion selection. Can we have her fired, she is not fit for the job.
‘Immigration is a privilege, not a right,’ Trump tells Merkel in first meeting.
The Donald is about to engage in planetary destruction, and so are the Australians and Canadians, who are now so far to the right on green issues, one can only throw one’s hands up in the air in exasperation. Note: The blame for all this, as per my long and overdue forthcoming blog post, lies with a mix of terrorism and precious snowflakes who laid the foundations for a massive swing to the right. (A fact that all my intelligent friends concur with, it’s not just my opinion.)
Anyway, if you are so angry, don’t use your gasoline powered car!
Vote with your wallet, and bankrupt the oil industry by not buying their awful dirty nasty.
After all, being a lefty, you’ll quickly boycott an orange if it’s from Israel (despite it being good for you and employing Palestinians and helping turn desert into arable land, no pun intended), so if you want to prove how righteous you are, do the same as alcoholics are supposed to do in order to stop consuming their favourite poison – go 100% teetotoil*.
Fight blackstuff club: Don’t buy any! Simples. What do you mean you have to drive to work? No you don’t, use Google maps and plot a cycling route if you cannot buy a Gogoro in the USA yet. Or walk – or skateboard – or inline skate. (I used to inline skate to work in London, fabulous aerobic workout!) You’ll be able to #SayNoToFatBottom too!
*See what I did there? 🙂
Over the last few years, there have been countless ads featuring not very well educated dodgy looking and sounding men promoting online gambling. “‘ello mate, 5/1 Chelsea score in the next 15 minutes.” And so on. Oh dear! Not to mention the casino style apps.
And then we read this.
What is it about the West that encourages irresponsible lifestyle and behaviour, only for us (the tax payer) to have to clean up the mess later? In California, where gambling is illegal, I was impressed how financially and personally responsible most people were. Organised with their finances, in control of their lives and never ever complaining about their lot or demanding of the state.
I have always believed the British attitude to capitalism to be highly immoral, equal to the junk food culture in the US (again, California is different, being people are sporty and well educated), and the aforementioned article in The Times really proves the point. As do my views on cancer, another man made disaster that is costing us billions to deal with thanks to our break it now, fix it later strategy.
Uh, because they have witnessed innocent people being slaughtered across Europe and elsewhere and have finally clicked?
Yet another reason (beyond reducing pollution) to install solar panels and try to get off grid.
Control, or be controlled. Your choice!
Oh dear, poor special snowflakes have no sense of humour. And of course, gender and race are way more important than ability to do the job properly!
Warning to entrepreneurs: Never hire anyone with a chip on their shoulder! It will always be about them, not the team.
Swedish jihadists funded themselves through benefits, govt says ‘unacceptable’ https://www.rt.com/news/380052-swedish-jihadists-benefits-report/
Well what did you expect?!
Those in the know have been warning about this for ages!
I have stated here and in numerous comments below articles in the press and on MSM owned tech publications that this sudden obsession with feminism and related causes is an intentional distraction from other more pertinent matters.
Today, in the UK, during the budget, the chancellor did two things that take the country backwards about two decades:
- Impose an 800% tax on solar energy
- Add a 20% tax to mobile calls when roaming abroad
Bread & Circuses + Frankfurt School political strategy in action.
Everything is reversed, from hypocritical social values to our lost opportunity to harness clean energy for the good of all. What a mess, eh?
So it’s International Women’s Day.
One of the genuine issues facing the fairer sex is that due to the way biology works, some humans are attracted to others. In specific circumstances this can be awkward, in particular in the work place. If a person in a position of authority is attracted to one of their staff (human nature remember, not an evil plan), it not only means that the manager is likely to biased towards the employee, but makes the employee feel uncomfortable if the feelings are not mutual. And even if they are, then it may make other employees feel uncomfortable.
When I went on a Club Med holiday a while back, single people were not allowed to share hotel rooms with members of the opposite sex. This to protect women of course. A good idea. And likewise, often when one is in a hospital or seeing a Doctor, one is offered the chance to be seen by someone of the same or opposite sex if a sensitive examination is required.
So, in companies, why not give employees the option to only report to members of a gender they are comfortable working under?
Again, we cannot make biology, love, affection and such illegal (not to be confused with violence and other unacceptable behaviour), but we can make things less awkward.
Exactly! Thing is today’s precious snowflakes cannot cope.
There were no such alerts in the 80s when when we had 1 foot of snow and yet we coped.
What total and utter rubbish! He is making a direct threat!
I have been watching TV and movies for a lifetime and never seen a single character who is anywhere like myself yet bare no grievance.
These people continue to use indirect threats and such to try to get their way.
How about starting you own TV show and stop telling us what to do!
